MONTGOMERY, Ala. โ€” Montgomery Transit, known as the M, is observing National Safety Month through four initiatives aimed at ensuring passenger safety. Via a June 12 press release, the city’s transit agency stated goals are accident and injury prevention, enhanced security, infrastructure safety, and emergency preparedness.

The transit system’s fleet undergo regular inspections and servicing to ensure mechanical soundness. Investment in vehicle maintenance and driver training significantly reduces the risk of accidents and injuries. New emergency call buttons and driver training increases the M’s ability to handle emergencies while en route. The M Transit also has comprehensive emergency response plans in place, including for medical emergencies, fires, natural disasters, and security threats. The M Transit dates to the late 19th century when the Capital City Railway Company introduced America’s first citywide Electric Trolley system, also known as the “Lightning Route.”
To make traveling on the M Transit more convenient, passengers are encouraged to download the TransLoc rider app. Through the app, passengers can utilize real-time bus tracking, set alerts, and receive updates as their bus approaches.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. โ€”Sports network ESPN announced its college football television schedule for 2023 season, including the Red Tails Classic at Cramton Bowl.

The Red Tails classic is scheduled to be televised nationally from Montgomery on September 3rd.  The game honors the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen while celebrating the historical tradition of HBCU classic football games. Tuskegee’s Golden Tigers will face off against Fort Valley State’s Wildcats at 6 pm, and available on ESPNU. “As the host city for the FCS Kickoff, Boeing Red Tails Classic and the Camellia Bowl, we have implemented a strategy that will help us not only welcome players and fans but offer an exceptional gameday experience.”

โ€”Mayor Steven L. Reed

The relationship between ESPN and the city of Montgomery for this classic continues to blossom with things starting in 2021 to more than 24,000 fans in attendance โ€”during the pandemic. That inaugural game scored the highest viewership ratings for primetime Wednesday Night Football within a decade. Montgomery Mayor Steven L.
