Montgomery Regional Airport Prepares For Inaugural 5K Runway Run

5K race at local airport offers behind the scenes views of runway, planes and more —to benefit local charities.

MONTGOMERY, Ala.—The Montgomery Regional Airport is set to host its first 5k Runway Run this Saturday, June 10th, at 7:30 am. The race is a closed course on Taxiway Bravo, Delta, Echo, and Runway 3-21 south, approximately 4 miles, along the south side of the airfield. Proceeds from this event will be donated to the River Region United Way.

Free parking available at the airport parking lot to all registered participants and spectators.

Racers should check in at the MGM Inter-modal Building where shuttles will transport them to the race site and conduct security screenings. Registered spectators will be allowed in the designated spectator area along the racecourse to watch its commencement. The 5k race will conclude with the awards ceremony at 9 am highlighting the fastest runner from each age category and the top male and female runner overall.

This race benefits the River Regions United Way, a non-profit organization servicing Autauga, Elmore, Lowndes, Macon, and Montgomery counties. According to Jannah Bailey, President, and C.E.O of the River Regions United Way, proceeds from this event go towards their annual giving campaign of over 40 affiliated agencies such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of the River Region, the American Heart Association, and the Catholic Social Services of Montgomery. Bailey plans to begin fund distribution within 2 weeks following the event.
