Mayor Reed Partners With Manna Beverages To Promote Economic Development
Potentially 280 full-time jobs on the way for new half-billion dollar beverage complex.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Mayor Steven L. Reed partnered with Manna Beverages & Ventures (MB&V) in a $600 million investment to build a new beverage production and distribution complex. The project has the potential to create at least 280 full-time jobs for the state of Alabama and is reported to be “more than 180 acres.” Mayor Reed explains, “As a community committed to closing the racial wealth gap, Montgomery is proud to partner with an entity like Manna Beverages & Ventures.”
On October 26th, Eddie Compton III the Senior Advisor to the mayor, expressed that, “The mayor’s focus is ensuring that economic success can take place in the city of Montgomery. He is ecstatic about creating more opportunities for jobs.” Currently, the median household income of Montgomery is $49,608. This project is expected to support this initiative, “Leaders in Montgomery said Manna Capital Partners’ investment will generate a significant economic impact on the region, creating careers and opportunities for residents and entrepreneurs.”
“$600M but who’s counting?“
Mayor Reed took to Twitter to express his feelings about this partnership“$600M but who’s counting[?]” with a money bag emoji attached. Cedric Campbell, the chair of Montgomery Chamber of Commerce, added that collaboration with economic development agencies greatly helped with this merger. An increase in economic development is expected with this change, seeing as the packaging industry is expected to be worth $119 billion by 2025.
