Mayor Reed Touts Hyundai as Essential to City’s Banner Year of Economic Growth

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Mayor Reed took to twitter to update his audience about his visit to the Hyundai corporate headquarters on November 15th with a statement that reads “Paying a visit to the corporate headquarters of our partners at Hyundai.” Hyundai Motor Company, based in South Korea, owned 5.3% of all global automotive market shares in 2021. In December 2005, Hyundai opened a branch in Montgomery called Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, LLC (HMMA) that was estimated at a substantial $1.4 billion to build.

Mayor Reed further explained that Hyundai “[has] been essential to Montgomery’s banner year for economic development that included more than one billion dollars in investment & 1,800+ jobs!” Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, LLC currently employs more than 3,000 people. Mayor Reed, whose vision is to advance “an agenda that addresses the community’s most pressing issues and puts Montgomery on track to become a leader in the New South,” has expressed his passion for improving the economy of Montgomery. On November 14, Eddie Compton III, the Senior Policy Advisor, relayed that “Mayor Reed cannot wait for the success awaiting the economy of Montgomery.”

Currently, Hyundai is making preparations to debut their new models including the 2023 Palisade with new technologies such as 12-inch navigation screens and the Driver’s Ergo Motion Seat. These models  will be available at the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, LLC plant.
