MONTGOMERY, Ala. β Montgomery Fire Rescue is sharing that a newborn baby boy was safely and anonymously surrendered in the Safe Haven Baby Box at Station 10 in December. This announcement was intentionally delayed to protect the motherβs privacy and ensure her anonymity.
This is the second surrender in Montgomery since the Baby Box was installed in May of this year; and one of approximately 70 safe surrenders nationwide through this lifeβsaving program.
When the alert activated, firefighters at Station 10 responded immediately and found a healthy baby boy who appeared to be only hours old. He received prompt medical care and was transported to Baptist South for evaluation and followβup. Safe Haven Baby Box officials and the local Department of Human Resources were notified and are involved in the ongoing process.
Per their official Facebook account, Montgomery Fire Rescue added, βWe want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the parent who made the courageous decision to ensure their childβs safety by trusting us with him. That choice reflects tremendous love and bravery.β
Montgomery Fire Rescue remains committed to providing safe, anonymous options for parents in crisis. The Safe Haven Baby Box at Station 10 continues to serve as a vital resource for protecting vulnerable infants and supporting families during difficult moments.
